Managing Multiple Accounts

The Oracle Calendar client creates and stores four local cache files in order to operate. These files are keyed to the user account and server name entered on the login screen. Together, the files store information pertaining to off-line agendas, non-published address books, time-zone settings, and other parameters. The file names for Windows and Macintosh computer are listed below:

Windows Macintosh
Xtmlocal.dat Oracle Calendar Data
Xtmlocal.ndx Oracle Calendar Index
Xtmparam.ini Oracle Calendar Params
Xtmtzone.ini Oracle Calendar Time Zones

When a different account or server name (e.g., calagenda changes to avantgenda) is entered, the client software will report that the off-line cache is owned by another user. In order to preserve and work with multiple accounts on the same computer, the off-line caches must be stored in different directories. It's usually best to store the directories in the same location with descriptive names. For example, if we use four different accounts on the same workstation, we can choose to organize the off-line caches in the following manner.

This allows us to quickly switch between the different off-line caches when needed.

Windows

Click the Select another location button and the following dialog box will appear. The directory shown in the dialog box reflects the current directory of the off-line cache.

Now do one of the following:

Macintosh

Click the Browse button and a dialog box similar to the following will appear.

Change into an existing directory or create a new folder with the  button. Make sure you are inside the folder you wish to use before clicking the Select current folder button. Only highlighting the folder then clicking the Select current folder button is not the same.
