CorporateSync for Palm allows you to synchronize CalAgenda data between your desktop computer and your Palm OS PDA. This works for all Palm OS PDAs, including the various models of Palm and Handspring PDAs and Sony's CLIÉ.
The Palm OS PDA uses files called Conduits that enable the exchange of information between the PDA and the desktop. Normally, there are four Palm Conduits, Datebook, ToDo, Address, and Memo, that synchronize information between your Palm OS PDA and the Palm Desktop software. CorporateSync can replace three of these Palm Conduits as follows in order to synchronize the various Palm applications with CorporateTime:
Most users will only want the CorporateTime Events Conduit since the Palm Address List is generally preferred over the CorporateTime one.
Before you install CorporateSync for Palm, you need to do the following:
There is no additional licensing fee for CorporateSync for Palm software. It is included in the initial activation and yearly subscriber fees.
The following instructions guide you through installing only the CorporateTime Events Conduit.
For Windows computers
Be sure to follow the installation instructions carefully so you don't unintentionally replace your Palm Address List and ToDo List Conduits with the CorporateTime equivalents.
Choose Custom Installation, then Next. This will bring up a window that looks like this:
Select the components you want ("CorporateTime Events" in this example).
If you accidentally install CorporateTime Conduits you don't want, you will need to remove and reinstall both the Palm Desktop software and CorporateSync software. The reinstallation does not wipe out your data; it will simply reinstall the proper Palm conduits to synchronize the data.
After the components are installed, the following dialog box will appear:
Click "Replace". Your PDA calendar will synchronize with information from your CalAgenda account. In this example, you will still be able to use your Palm Desktop software to input and access information for your Palm Address List, ToDo list, and Memos. However, any information added to the calendar in Palm Desktop will not be synchronized.
After installing, it will ask you to perform a HotSync in order to install "CS Setup" on your PDA. See the section Setting Up CS Setup below.
For Macintosh computers
Open the "Install_Palm_Mac_CT" application and follow the onscreen prompts to perform a standard installation of CorporateTime's software.
Normally, there are four Palm Conduits--Datebook, ToDo, Address, and Memo--that synchronize information between your Palm OS PDA and the Palm Desktop software. CorporateSync will replace three of these Palm Conduits as follows in order to synchronize the various Palm applications with CorporateTime:
Following installation, you may wish to revert to using the Palm's standard conduits for Addresses and To Do Lists. This way, the "To Do List" and "Address Book" applications on your PDA will continue to be synchronized with the Palm Desktop software on your Macintosh, rather than with CorporateTime's task list and address book.
To do so, find the following files in the "Disabled Conduits" folder in the "Palm" folder on your hard drive, and move them back to the "Conduits" folder:

Then disable their CorporateTime counterparts by moving them from the "Conduits" folder to the "Disabled Conduits" folder:
After installing the CorporateTime conduits, perform a HotSync to synchronize your PDA with your Macintosh's Palm Desktop. This will install "CS Setup", a new Palm OS application, onto your PDA.
After installing CorporateSync and completing a HotSync of your PDA, you will need to configure "CS Setup" on your PDA.
Turn on your PDA and tap the "Home" (
) button. (On older
Palms, you may have "Applications" (
), while the Handspring or CLIÉ may have
a different version of the "Home" button.) Select the
"All" category in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Tap on the "CS Setup" application. You should see a screen that looks like this:

Enter your user name (just as you do with the desktop CorporateTime
Client) next to the word "User".
Tap on the "-Unassigned-" box next to the word "Password" and
enter your password.
Make sure Connect is set to "To Server". If it is not, tap on the triangle next to Connect and change this setting.
Enter calagenda.berkeley.edu next to the word "Server:" After you enter the server name, your screen should look like this: (Note that the last letters of the server name will run off the right edge of the screen.)

CalAgenda users can leave the "Node" field blank.
(If you are an Avantgenda user, you should instead enter avantgenda.berkeley.edu next to the word "Server:". You probably will not need to enter avantgenda next to the word "Node:" but can do so if leaving it alone does not work.)
Next, select Dates from the pull-down menu in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Review and, if necessary, change the starting and ending dates for the events that will be synchronized between CalAgenda and your PDA. Only events falling within this range of dates will be synchronized.
Place your PDA in its cradle and HotSync it with your desktop computer. Once this HotSync is complete, the appointments you have stored on CalAgenda will appear in the Datebook application on your Palm OS PDA. You will need to continue to perform HotSyncs to update your PDA as your CalAgenda calendar changes.
The release notes for CorporateSync version 2.1.1 describe the following limitation on synchronizing repeating events from your PDA to CalAgenda:
"You cannot synchronize the palm organizer's repeating Events. ... Only the first Event of a repeating Event created using the palm organizer [will appear] in the [CorporateTime] calendar application [after a HotSync]. ... You can, however, synchronize calendar server Repeating Entries [to a PDA]."
